From Concept to Concrete: ARL colleagues help shape Surrey Quays for the future
15 April 2025

Arriva Rail London (ARL) has supported Transport for London (TfL) on the significant upgrades at Surrey Quays station.
This project is set to transform the station, providing step-free access to both platforms for the first time. The new entrance will also provide easier and more direct access to new housing developments and Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, as well as boosting capacity to meet growing demand along the Windrush line.
ARL has been involved from the initial design stages, with colleagues across the business sharing valuable feedback to put customers and colleagues at the heart of the design. Driver Louise Jury and customer host Mohammad Qmran Fazal have provided beneficial operational perspectives that prioritise the safety of colleagues and customers, as well as ensuring a seamless handover to the operator upon completion of the works.
Andy Teesdale, head of concession management at Arriva Rail London, said: “We are thrilled to be part of the transformative upgrades at Surrey Quays station. By collaborating with TfL from the design stage, we have been able to shape a station that will work for colleagues and customers from day one. Valuable insights from our frontline colleagues have been instrumental in ensuring that safety and customer satisfaction remain at the forefront of this initiative. We are excited to see the finished project and look forward to welcoming customers to the new-look Surrey Quays next year.”
